Impaled. Dexter: Azure, semé of pine cones, a cross moline argent; Sinister: Gules, a cross sable fimbriated or, on a chief of the second three fleurs-de-lis of the third.

Motto: Praedica verbum.

Origin/meaning

As common in US episcopal heraldry, the arms show the arms of the diocese impaled with the personal arms of the bishop.

The cross against a background of red and gold symbolizes the Holy Sacrifice consummated by the shedding of the Precious Blood in charity. The fleurs-de-lis are taken from the coat of arms of the Feeney family of Ireland.
