English Shoulder Sleeve Insignia. Description: On a dark red square arched convexly at top and bottom and edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border, a Viking helmet supported below by a sword horizontally positioned, point to right, all two toned gray and detailed black. Attached above the device, a black scroll inscribed “MIAMI” in gray letters, edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border. Attached below the device, a black scroll inscribed “NORLAND” in gray letters, edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border.

Shoulder Loop Insignia. Description: A silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of two Viking longship sails vertically striped maroon (transparent red) and silver and supported by one spar joining two dragon prows above two golden crossed oars, paddles up; all between two maroon (transparent red) scrolls, the word “REMIS” in silver letters inscribed on the top maroon (transparent red) scroll and “VELISQUE” in silver letters on the bottom maroon (transparent red) scroll.

Origin/meaning

Shoulder Sleeve Insignia: Maroon and gray are the school colors. The “Vikings” are the school mascot and reflects the cadets’ dedication and involvement in school, community and country.

Shoulder Loop Insignia: Maroon and gray are the school colors. The “Vikings” are the school mascot and reflects the cadets’ dedication and involvement in school, community and country. The school motto “REMIS VELISQUE” translates to mean “With Oars and Sails” and alludes to the motivation by which they are guided to success through hard work and perseverance.

The Shoulder Sleeve Insignia and the Shoulder Loop Insignia was both approved on 18 May 2001.
