Origin/meaningThe two islands represent the Seychelles. The water lily (hydre) is a canting element. The heart with the seven swords is a symbol for Our Lady of Sorrows, the patron saint of the Savoie region in France, where the bishop was born. The chief shows the arms of the Franciscan Order.
