French D'azur à la tour d'argent à quatre créneaux, maçonnée de sable, ouverte du champ, percée d'un œil-de-bœuf radié de huit pièces d'or, maçonné de sable et ajouré du champ, la tour hersée d'or, adextrée de la tête de saint Denis de carnation, barbée et chevelée d'argent, coiffée d'une mitre antique d'or, senestrée d'une fleur de lis du même et accompagnée en pointe de deux brins de saule d'or, appointés en chevron renversé.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially adopted on December 10, 2020

The villages of Saulmory and Villefranche were reunited in 1819. The two willow branches (saule) are canting for Saulmory.

The tower with its radiated eye represents the stronghold of Villefranche with its eight streets radiating around its place of arms.

The azure of the field and the gold of the charges is taken from the arms of the Léonard de Moriolles family, lord of Villefranche.

The head of the holy bishop Denis recalls that the church of Saulmory is dedicated to him as well as the church of Villefranche.

The clover refers to the local agriculture as well as to the former cheese factory in Saulmory.
