The Turks and Caicos Islands are a British Overseas Territory and overseas territory of the European Union consisting of two groups of tropical islands in the Caribbean, the larger Caicos Islands and the smaller Turks Islands. The Turks and Caicos Islands lie southeast of Mayaguana in the Bahamas island chain and north of the island of Hispaniola.

Administrative division

The Turks and Caicos Islands are divided into six administrative districts (two in the Turks Islands and four in the Caicos Islands), headed by district commissioners.

None of these uses arms.

The National Arms of the Turks and Caicos Islands

The arms were granted on September 28, 1965.

The arms show a shell, lobster and cactus, which are all native to the islands. The cactus is a so-calles Turk's head cactus, after which the islands are named. The cactus has a red top, which looks like a Turkish fez (a kind of hat).

The supporters are flamingoes. The crest is a pelican between two sisal plants representing connection to the rope industry.
