Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on July 13, 1936.

The arms show the bar taken from the arms of the Counts of the Mark, who ruled the area in the medieval times. The divided shield of gold and blue is the historical arms of the Lords of Plettenberg and the arms as used by the municipality Plettenberg-Land. The shell is taken from the arms of the village of Ohle.
