Origin/meaning
The arms were designed and granted in 1900.
The arms show the image of St. Lawrence (Laurentius), patron saint of the village and of the Schuttern abbey. The latter owned many possessions in the village, and was responsible for the village church. He holds his symbol, the grill on which he was burned, and a small shield with a plough iron. The meaning or origin of the small shield is not known, most likely it is an old village symbol. The colours of the small shield are those of Baden, to which the village belongs since 1629.
The whole composition already appeared on a seal from 1530. The same elements appeared in a seal of the 19th century, but here the plough was not placed in a shield.
