AMT RIETBERG
State : Nordrhein-Westfalen
District (Kreis) : Gütersloh (until 1972 Wiedenbrück)
Incorporated into : 1970 Rietberg
Official blazon
(de)
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on May 14, 1937.
The territory of the Amt comprises most of the former Rietberg County, and thus the upper half of the arms shows the eagle taken from the arms of the Counts of Rietberg. The lower half shows a water lily, symbol for the many marshes and ponds in the area, which gave the area its name (Riet=reeds). The water lily is a common flower in the municipality.
