Selected collector's items from Germany:

BISSENDORF

State : Niedersachsen
District (Kreis) : Region Hannover (1975-2001 Hannover, until 1975 Burgdorf)
Incorporated into : 1974 Wedemark

Wappen von Bissendorf (Wedemark)

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on November 17, 1955.

The village was until 1852 the capital of the Wedemark region. The arms show the typical tower of the council-hall, the Amtshof, later the town hall of the Bissendorf council. The initials GW are those of Georg Wilhelm, Duke of Braunschweig-Lüneburg. The village historically belonged to the Duchy.
