Heraldry of the World Civic heraldry of Germany - Deutsche Wappen (Gemeindewappen/Kreiswappen) |
HÖRDE
State : Nordrhein-Westfalen
District (Kreis) : Dortmund
Incorporated into : 1929 Dortmund
Origin/meaning
The arms show the local castle and a bend, derived from the arms of the Counts of the Mark, to whom the town historically belonged. The seals of the town from the 16th century onwards used the same design; the chequered bend and either a castle or other buildings in the upper half, see also image below.
Seal from Hörde from around 1900. |
