COUNTY STEINFURT
Official blazon
- (de)
Origin/meaning
The County Steinfurt was a small county located in the present-day German state of Nordrhein-Westfalen. It existed as an independent territory from 1454-1495 as Lordship and from 1495 to 1806 as a county, when it was mediatised to the Grand-Duchy of Berg. Capital was the city of Burgsteinfurt.
The arms show a swan, derived from the arms of the medieval Lords of Steinfurt (1129-1421).
