Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on November 21, 1999.

The lower half of the arms shows the meandering Sorge river. The municipal area is a mixture of agricultural areas, forests and moors, which is an ideal area for wildlife, especially foxes. The nickname of the villagers is Sandfüchse (sand-foxes), which is symbolised in the upper half with a fox on a golden background. The reed is a typical plant for the moors and symbolises the Tetenhusener Moor a protected area since 1928.
