Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on October 12, 1993.

The goose (Ganter) is a canting element and was first used in the 1950s. The small bar refers to the Kirch- (church) part of the name. The small shield shows the arms of the State of Mainz, to which the area historically belonged.
