Origin/meaning

The County Nidda was a small county located in the present-day German state of Hessen. It existed as an independent territory from 1065-1333 when it became part of the County Ziegenhain and in 1450 to Hessen. As a title it has been used by successive rules of the area. Capital was the city of Nidda.
