Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted in 1938.
The orb first appeared as symbol for the town on borderstones dating from 1725. Since 1809 the symbol is used as village and town arms. The orb probably was chosen as a symbol for the fact that the village was for many centuries a free imperial village.
Seal from around 1900 |
The arms by Hupp in the Kaffee Hag albums +/- 1925 |
Literature : Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
