Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on September 22, 1997.

The name Bennebek means between the rivers, which is symbolised by the two wavy bars. On the higher ground between the many small rivers people settled by clearing the oak forests. This is symbolised by the two oak leaves. Later the main activity was mining of peat, which is symbolised by the specific tools in the midlle of the arms. The golden shield symbolises the sandy soil on which the people settled.
