Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on May 19, 2014.

The two hooks refer to the clearing of the forest and thus on the earlierst settlement in the area. The hooks also refer to the traditionally importan agriculture in the municipality. The maple leaves refer to the old forest, the Tarnewitzer Urwald, which is rich in maple trees. The ship's wheel refers to the historical fishing and modern tourism in the village.
