Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on March 8, 1954.
The arms combine the lion of the Lords of Rechberg with the banner of Tübingen. The town belonged from 1268-1792 to the Lords of Rechberg, who also granted town rights in 1330. The gonfanon is the typical arms of Tübingen and is added here as the Counts of Tübingen had several possessions in and around the town.
Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
