Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on December 27, 1995.

The arms show the local castle. which, in medieval times, was built on a strategic position among the road passes in the Thüringer Wald region. In 1306 the castle became a possession of the Counts of Schwarzburg, whose lion is shown in the arms on the castle.

The base shows the Gera river, on which the village is situated.
