Origin/meaning

The arms were designed and adopted in 1973 and officially granted on January 31, 1992.

Eisenhüttenstadt was founded in the 1950s as an industrial city, based on iron factories. The arms thus show an apartment building and an iron factory with furnaces. The base shows the Oder river on which the city is situated.

The wavy blue line forms a pigeon, the symbol of peace.
