Origin/meaning

In 1956 the arms above were proposed. The chevrons are now the arms for the Lords of Eppstein. The escutcheon shows the town's initial. The oldest seal of the village showed a quartered shield with the wheel of the State of Mainz, the chevrons of Eppstein, the cross of Fulda and the letter K. The seal dates from the 17th century. After 1816 the seal showed a shield with in the upper part the cross of Fulda and in the lower the chevrons of Eppstein, with in the point the letter K.
