STOCKSTADT AM RHEIN

State : Hessen
District (Kreis) : Gross-Gerau

Wappen von Stockstadt am Rhein/Arms (crest) of Stockstadt am Rhein
Official blazon
German blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1927 and are based on the oldest seal of the town, dating from the late 16th century. The two tools in the arms are so-called boat-hooks, used by the local fishermen on the Rhein. The origin and meaning of the stars is not known. The colours are those of the State of Mainz, to which the area belonged until 1579.

Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
