SONNEN

State : Bayern
District (Kreis) : Passau
Additions : 1978 Oberneureuth (partly)

Wappen von Sonnen/Arms (crest) of Sonnen
Official blazon
German

In Grün ein silberner Balken, oben ein auffliegender silberner Falke, unten ein silbernes Hufeisen.

English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on January 15, 1980.

The falcon is taken from the arms of the Lords of Falkenstein, medieval Lords of Sonnen. The bar and horseshoe symbolise the former important trade routes to Bohemia, that ran through the village. The green colour symbolises the rich nature in the municipality.
