Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on February 25, 1983.

The arms combine elements of four families that ruled the Treffelstein estate during the centuries. The black-golden division is taken from the arms of the Rornstetter family (ruled 1454-1505). The wheel is taken from the arms of the Berlachingen family (1585 until mid 17th century). The leaf is taken from the arms of the Von Reisach family (1759-early 19th century). The base is taken from the arms of the von Sazenhofen family (1679-1730s).
