Durch einen silbernen Wellenbalken schräglinks geteilt von Rot und Blau, oben ein sechsspeichiges silbernes Rad, unten eine silberne Jakobusmuschel.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on May 14, 1992.

The upper part shows the wheel of the State of Mainz, to which the town belonged for many centuries. The lower part show the shell of St. James the elder, the patron saint of the town. The wavy bend is the Leine river.
