NEUSTADT (ODENWALD)
State : Hessen
District (Kreis) : Odenwaldkreis (until 1972 Erbach)
Additions : 1970 Rai-Breitenbach
Incorporated into : 1971 Breuberg
Official blazon
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted in 1927.
The arms show a star taken from the arms of the lords of Erbach, and the rose taken from the arms of the Counts and Princes of Löwenstein-Wertheim. The two families ruled the town and local castle together until 1806. The oldest seal of the town, dating from 1600 shows three roses and three stars. The sword is a symbol for the local court, which operated for many centuries.
