FORCHHEIM AM KAISERSTUHL
State : Baden-Württemberg
District (Kreis) : Emmendingen
German | In Blau über goldenem Dreiberg rechtshin liegend ein silbernes Senseneisen, darüber eine gestürzte silberne Pflugschar, beseitet von zwei goldenen Sternen. |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially adopted in 1913.
Forchheim had no own seals or arms until the early 19th century. The first known seal dates from 1811 and already shows the arms as shown above. The second known seal dates from 1880 and shows the stars as points, the plough iron and the scythe were combined to something like a pine tree and the mountain in the base was simplified, see image below.
Seal from around 1880 |
In 1906 the State Archives of Baden proposed arms based on the 1811 seal in rather arbitrary colours, as no colours were known.
The sythe and the plough iron probably indicate the agricultural character, the mountain the mountains of the area. The meaning of the stars is not known.
