OEDERQUART
State : Niedersachsen
District (Kreis) : Stade
Samtgemeinde : Samtgemeinde Nordkehdingen
German | blazon wanted |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The arms show a linden tree on a small hill. The hill is a canting symbol, the old name is Oderekekwort, where the Wort (or Wurt) part means an artificial dwelling hill, a place where people lived when there were no dikes. Linden trees were common on these hills. The six branches symbolise the six hamlets and villages in the municipality, the 15 leaves the 15 farmsteads.
