THANNHAUSEN
State : Bayern
District (Kreis) : Günzburg (until 1973 Krumbach)
Additions : 1977 Burg
German | In Blau auf grünem Boden ein silbernes Haus mit Ecktürmchen, auf deren roten Zwiebeldächern goldene Windfahnen wehen; vor dem offenen Tor eine grüne Tanne. |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
According to legend the arms were granted in the 15th century by Emperor Friedrich III, but no historical proof thereof exists. The oldest known seal dates from the 17th century and shows the above composition of pine tree (Tanne) and castle (for Hausen, house).
The arms in Kramer (1841) |
The arms by Hupp in the Kaffee Hag albums +/- 1925 |
The arms of Thannhausen and Mortain at the village entrance |
Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
