The axe symbolises the former medieval wood-court Sutholte in the municipality. The coins symbolise the legendary origin of the village. During a visit by Countess Margaretha of Diepholz she threw golden coins to the local farmers when crossing the local bridge. The bridge was later named Golden Bridge and the village Goldenstedt (or place of gold).
