BAD FREIENWALDE
State : Brandenburg
District (Kreis) : Märkisch Oderland
Additions : 1928 Altkietz , Alttornow; 1957 Sonnenburg; 1993 Altranft; 2003 Altglietzen, Bralitz, Hohenwutzen, Neuenhagen, Schiffmühle; 2009 Hohensaaten
Official blazon
In Silber eine bewurzelte grüne Eiche (mit 8 Blättern und 5 Früchten), deren Stamm von zwei kleinen silbernen Schilden mit je einem sechsspeichigen roten Rad beseitet ist.
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on January 7, 1994.
The arms are based on the 15th or 16th century seal of the city. The oak tree is a canting symbol, for the -hage part of the name (Hage=bushes). The small shields show the arms of the Knights of Uchtenhage, Lords of Freienwalde in the 14th century.
