Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted in 19587.

The imperial eagle in the upper half of the shield refers to the considerable possessions and the rights that the hospital and the imperial city of Nördlingen acquired in Goldburghausen.

The triple mountain in the lower half symbolizes the location of the place on the Goldberg. The colors red and gold refer to the former sovereignty of the Counts of Oettingen.
