ALTHORNBACH

State: Rheinland-Pfalz
District (Kreis): Südwestpfalz
Verbandsgemeinde: Zweibrücken-Land

Wappen von Althornbach/Arms (crest) of Althornbach
Official blazon
German blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on May 20, 1968.

The arms show the lion of the Counts of Zweibrücken, who ruled the village until 1399 with a tree. The meaning of the tree is not clear, it may be the local linden tree, or a type of beech, which can be used as a canting element (white beech, Weissbuche or Hornbaum). The composition is taken from the local seal dating from 1753.
