Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on October 17, 1957.

As there were no historical seals or arms known for the municipality, the arms were designed in 1957.

The red bend is taken from the arms of the Von Schnellenberg family. They owned an estate in the village from the 13th until the 18th century as vassals of the Archbishops of Köln. The last owner was Carl Friedrich Adolph von Schnellenberg zu Schönholthausen in the middle of the 18th century.

The green oak leaves are taken as a canting element for the -holt (=holz=wood) part of the name.
