The oldest seal dates from the early 14<sup>th</sup> century and shows a city wall and a small church. Since 1450 the seals, and later the arms, all showed the above composition. Origin/meaning
Burgkunstadt was already mentioned as a city in 1325 and was a district capital of the State of Bamberg. The oldest seal dates from the early 14th century and shows a city wall and a small church.
