The arms were officially granted on March 17, 1952.
The arms show in the left half a bend and a crosier for the Himmelpforten Abbey, founded in 1246, around which the village developed. The other half shows a 'Pfederkramme' (a tool to contrain horses), taken from the arms of the Von Ense family.

German Im von Blau und Silber gespaltenen Schild vorn ein rot-silbern in zwei Reihen gechachteter Linksschrägbalken, zu dem ein goldener, einwärts gekehrter Äbtissinnenstab ins Andreaskreuz gestellt ist. Hinten eine schwarze hängende Pferdepramme, die durch eine rote Schnur zusammengehalten wird.
