Hachen belonged until 1232 to the Counts of Dassel, from 1232-1368 to the Counts of Arnsberg and from 1368-1803 to the Bishops of Köln. The arms show the cross of Köln and the eagle of [[Arnsberg]]. The arms were granted in 1912 and were based on the image of the arms in a roll of arms from 1700, see below.
