On July 18, 1908 the arms were officially granted by Emperor Wilhelm II. | |||
Borgholz received city rights in the early 14<sup>th</sup> century. The oldest seal dates from 1446 and shows the Bishop of Paderborn in a gate. The city wat the time belonged to the State of Paderborn. In the 17<sup>th</sup> century the fleur-de-lys appears on the seals. The fleur-de-lys was the symbol used by the State of Paderbron. Initially the arms showed three lilies. | |||

Origin/meaning
On July 18, 1908 the arms were officially granted by Emperor Wilhelm II.
Borgholz received city rights in the early 14th century. The oldest seal dates from 1446 and shows the Bishop of Paderborn in a gate. The city wat the time belonged to the State of Paderborn.
