In Rot vor einer goldenen Flammenglorie auf silberner Mondsichel stehend die blau gekleidete und golden gekrönte Mutter Gottes, auf dem rechten Arm das Kind mit der Weltkugel, in der Linken ein goldenes Zepter.

Origin/meaning

The arms were already used on the oldest known seal of the city, dating from the early 15th century. During the centuries the arms and colours have changed only in small details. The arms show the H. Madonna with child, the patron saint of the city.
