BRAUNSCHWEIG (BS)
State : Niedersachsen
Incorporated into : 1977 Braunschweig-city, Peine, Wolfenbüttel, Gifhorn
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on April 25, 1951.
The lion is derived from the arms of the former Duchy and State of Braunschweig, and is the lion of the Welfen dynasty, Dukes of Braunschweig. To distinguish the arms from the arms of the city, the colours are slightly different.
