NEUHAUS
State : Bayern
District (Kreis) : Neustadt an der Waldnaab
Additions : 1946 Dietersdorf
Incorporated into : 1972 Windischeschenbach
Official blazon
Origin/meaning
The oldest seal of the town dates from around 1515 after the area had become a possession of the Waldsassen Abbey. The seal shows a tower and a crosier. In 1562 this composition was placed in a shield. When after the Reformation the properties of the Abbey were sold, the seal showed two towers and the crosier was removed. The third tower appears for the first time in a seal from 1638. Ever since the arms and seals show the three towers, sometimes joined, but most often separately as in the above arms.
