Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted in 1907.

Stadthagen was founded by the Counts of Schaumburg in the 13th century. The oldest known seal dates from the late 13th century and already shows the same composition as the above arms, a city view and in the gate the arms of the Counts of Schaumburg. All later seals and images show basically the same composition, but the size and shape of the buildings has changed considerably during the centuries.
