PFAFFENHAUSEN
State : Bayern
District (Kreis) : Unterallgäu (until 1972 Mindelheim)
Official blazon
Geteilt von Silber und Blau; darauf eine aufrecht stehende, von Schwarz und Silber geteilte Raute.
Origin/meaning
The arms were devised in 1835 and officially granted on March 31, 1836.
The arms are based on the arms of the Knight Jakob of Pfaffenhausen, Lord of the town in the 13th century. His seal from 1335 shows a diamond split vertically. As no colours were known, black and silver were chosen and the diamond was split horizontally. The background division of silver and blue was added as the Bavarian colours. The arms were granted in 1836 by King Ludwig of Bavaria.
