Wappen von Kitzingen

Official blazon

In Blau eine durchgehende, oben gezinnte silberne Brücke mit drei Pfeilern.

Origin/meaning

Kitzingen was first mentioned as a city around 1300. The oldest seal dates from 1349 and already shows the important local bridge over the Main river. All later seals and images have shown the bridge, but the actual size and shape has varied through the centuries. The colours are known as above since 1839, but already in the 16th century the arms were blue and silver, but at that time the filed was silver and the bridge blue.
