BAUSTERT
State : Rheinland-Pfalz
District (Kreis) : Bitburg-Prüm (until 1970 Bitburg)
Verbandsgemeinde : Verbandsgemeinde Bitburg-Land
Official blazon
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on May 6, 1977.
The upper part of the arms ad well as the divided shield symbolise the fact that the village historically was part of Luxembourg, but the area was divided among the Estates of Bettingen and Neuerburg. The crown is the Ducal crown of Luxembourg. The crown bears six jewels, representing the 6 villages in the municipality.
The church of Baustert belonged to the St. Maximinius Abbey in Trier. The arms of the abbey showed three stars and an imperial eagle. The star in the lower half is derived from these arms.
