Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted in 1898.
Külsheim received city rights in 1292 from King Adolf. The city was part of the State of Mainz until 1803. The oldest seal, dating from 1299 thus shows St. Martin, the patron saint of Mainz. From the middle of the 14th century until 1803 the seals showed the wheel of the State of Mainz. In 1803 the city became a possession of the Princes of Leiningen, and the new seal of the city showed in a divided shield on the right side three letter K, on the left half the eagle of the Princes of Leiningen.
Since 1836 the arms and seals show a fountain. The town is well known for its fountains.
