Selected collector's items from Germany:

PARTENKIRCHEN

State : Bayern
District (Kreis) : Garmisch-Partenkirchen
Incorporated into : 1935 Garmisch-Partenkirchen

Wappen von Partenkirchen

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms show a canting church (Kirche). The church already appeared on the oldest known seal of the city, dating from 1406. The origin of the axe is not known. The axe nearly disappeared on later seals of the city, but when the above arms were granted in 1903 the axe was shown as on the oldest seals.
