The cross and deer antlers are the symbol for St. Hubertus, as the oldest chapel in the area (known since 1522) was devoted to St. Hubertus. The division line refers to the Sorpetal resevoir, on which the village is situated.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on April 21, 1961.

The cross and deer antlers are the symbol for St. Hubertus, as the oldest chapel in the area (known since 1522) was devoted to St. Hubertus. The division line refers to the Sorpetal resevoir, on which the village is situated.

The three roses and golden colour in chief are taken from the arms of the Von Wrede family, who lived in the village since at least 1338 and still own the local castle.
