English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were adopted in 1960.

The small shield shows the previous, unofficial, arms of the village, based on the seal from 1581 (see image below). The symbol is not very clear, it proabaly is a so-called village symbol, but its meaning is not known. It has been previously described as a Ringflasche (ring-bottle) and currently as a Halseisen (neck-iron). This is a piece of iron used to chain prisoners around the neck and to an object.

It has also been stated that the symbol originally consisted of two rings, symbolising the local castle and the manor, both which were owned by the Lords of Eschollbrücken.

In the new arms the village symbol was combined with thee diamonds, taken from the arms of the Lords von Waldbrunn, who owned the village in the 15th and 16th century.
