Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on April 7, 1880.

The arms show the arms of the Stolberg-Frenz-Setterich family, which is know since the 13^th century. The Stolberg dynasty belonged to the higher German nobility. The seals of the town never showed the arms of the Stolberg family, but showed the Holy Trinity.
